The Same Quality as In-Person — at a Fraction of the Cost

Remote simultaneous interpreting has become the standard for international China business meetings. Here is why it works and where it fits best.

💰

Significantly Lower Cost

No travel, no equipment transport, no venue booth installation. RSI eliminates the largest cost components of in-person simultaneous interpreting while maintaining the same quality of output.

Faster to Organise

No venue assessment, no booth logistics, no equipment shipping. Once the interpreter is booked and briefed, the technical setup takes minutes. Ideal for meetings with shorter notice periods.

🌍

Global Participation

Participants join from any location in the world. Your team in New York, your Chinese partners in Guangzhou, your interpreter in Foshan — all in the same session with seamless language switching.

🎙️

Same Certified Interpreters

RSI does not mean lower-quality interpreters. We use the same AIIC, CATTI, and NAATI certified professionals for remote work as we do for in-person events — properly briefed and prepared.

📹

Recorded with Interpreted Audio

Remote sessions can be recorded with the interpreted language track included — useful for compliance documentation, post-meeting review, or sharing with colleagues who could not attend live.

🔒

Secure for Sensitive Meetings

Investor calls, board meetings, and M&A discussions require discretion. All interpreters sign NDAs. We can recommend encrypted platform options for sessions with confidentiality requirements.

Choosing the Right Platform for China Meetings

Not all video conferencing platforms are equal for China-based meetings. This matters — the wrong platform choice can result in connection failures on the Chinese side.

✅ Tencent Meeting (Recommended)

  • Most stable platform for mainland China participants
  • Enterprise version supports simultaneous interpretation channels
  • Widely used across Chinese corporate environments
  • Best choice when Chinese side is connecting from mainland China

⚠️ Zoom (Use With Caution)

  • Business and Enterprise tiers support native simultaneous interpretation
  • Stable connection
  • Built-in simultaneous interpreting feature, including relay.

⚠️ Microsoft Teams

  • No native simultaneous interpretation channel
  • Requires third-party RSI platform integration (Akkadu)
  • Accessible from mainland China but may be slow
  • Suitable for teams already using Teams — with RSI add-on

✅ RSI Dedicated Platforms

  • Akkadu — designed specifically for RSI
  • Work alongside any video conferencing platform
  • Ideal for large international events with multiple language streams
  • We set up and manage the RSI platform on your behalf
  • Most reliable for high-stakes professional events
From Booking to Live Session

RSI delivery is streamlined — but preparation is still the key to quality.

1

Book & Platform Select

Tell us your dates, language pair, platform preference, and participant locations. We confirm which platform works best and book your interpreter team.

2

Brief & Prepare

Share your agenda, presentations, and any technical glossary at least 48 hours before. We brief interpreters thoroughly for your specific subject matter.

3

Technical Test

24 hours before the meeting, we run a full platform test — interpreter audio, language channels, participant joining instructions. Issues found here, not on the day.

4

Live Session

Interpreter team joins 15 minutes early. Real-time interpretation runs seamlessly. Post-meeting debrief available on request.

RSI — Common Questions
Is RSI quality as good as in-person simultaneous interpreting?
When properly set up and with thoroughly briefed interpreters, the quality is comparable. The main difference is that remote interpreters have fewer ambient cues — they cannot see the room, read body language, or lean over to clarify with the speaker. This makes comprehensive pre-meeting briefing materials even more important than in an in-person setting.
What happens if the connection drops during a session?
We establish contingency protocols before every session — backup connection options, a clear reconnection procedure, and a designated meeting host who can pause the session if needed. This is one of the reasons the technical test 24 hours before is non-negotiable. Connection issues discovered during the test are resolved before the live session.
Can participants join from different countries simultaneously?
Yes — this is one of RSI’s greatest strengths. Your team can join from New York, London, or Sydney while your Chinese partners connect from Guangzhou or Beijing, all within the same interpreted session. We advise on the optimal platform based on where the majority of participants are located.
How many interpreters do I need for an RSI session?
For sessions longer than 60 minutes, two interpreters per language pair are required — rotating every 20–30 minutes. This is the professional standard for simultaneous interpreting regardless of whether it is delivered remotely or in person. For shorter sessions of under 60 minutes, a single interpreter may be appropriate — discuss this with us when booking.
